Acting | Mode Elle Model & Talent Agency

PROFESSIONAL ACTING CLASSES

Mode Elle’s acting classes offer a fun and encouraging environment for new talent who are interested in exploring the craft of acting. This is your opportunity to explore the world of acting as well as to learn, practice, and develop acting skills.

Mode Elle is certified with the Federal Government of Canada as a Private Educational Institution with Employment and Social Development Canada.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Our acting classes will not only hone your skills, but will also help you understand what happens behind the scenes in the casting process. In particular, you will learn:

  • Improvisation
  • Audition techniques – overcoming nerves and what to expect
  • How to slate
  • Cold reading and breaking down the script
  • Vocal and body warmups
  • Diction
  • On camera movement
  • Scene study
  • Talent headshots and resume
  • Markets in acting

WHY IS TRAINING IMPORTANT?

It is important to remember that acting is a career opportunity. After all, it’s not “show fun,” it’s “show business.” If you want to give yourself an edge over the competition, you’ll need to develop your skills. Acting classes are a great way to learn about the casting process, build confidence, and make the most of  audition opportunities.

Acting classes are also a great way to build your resume. The actor’s resume – coupled with the talent headshot – is the calling card of an actor. The resume lists your experience, training, special skills, important measurements and statistics (e.g. height, eye colour, hair colour), and your agency’s contact information. Once you are finished taking classes, regularly participating in workshops is a good way to keep your skills and resume up to date.

ACTING AS A LIFE SKILL

Acting classes also teach a variety of skills and traits that benefit students in other areas of their lives:

  • Confidence: The high pressure of performing in front of an audience is an excellent way of helping even naturally shy people overcome their self-consciousness.
  • Public Speaking: Acting requires people speak clearly and eloquently while delivering convincing, persuasive, and believable dialogue. These same skills are heavily utilized in public speaking engagements.
  • Teamwork: Through rehearsals, performances, and class exercises, acting requires the ability to collaborate with others and work as a team. After all, “acting is reacting” – it requires you to convincingly respond to the environment, and most importantly, the other people around you.
  • Poise: Actors’ bodies must align with the story emotions they are trying to convey. Consequently, acting classes teach students to become more aware of their bodies, posture, and physical presence. This kind of awareness soon becomes second nature, allowing students to exude grace, confidence, and poise in their everyday lives.
  • Conversation: Acting lessons train students in building suspense, perfect verbal timing, and displaying emotion through voice and facial expression. These skills can make students better communicators and conversationalists.
  • Understanding Viewpoints: Acting requires you to adopt the persona and characteristics of the role you are playing. This involves understanding the feelings, viewpoints, and personality traits of your character. As such, acting students also learn how to “step into the shoes” of other people in their everyday lives.
